Philippines : THE REAL BANK appoints Jose Nograles to board of directors.

The Real Bank has appointed former President of Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) to its board of directors following his selection as one of its independent directors.

Jose C. Nograles has enormous experience in investment banking and finance, in addition to experience as one of Philippines financial regulators. As the President of PDIC, Nograles led the channel of amendments to PDIC's charter, at the height of 2008 financial crisis, helping it to play more proactive co-regulatory role with Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) by offering institutional and financial strengthening measures to maintain the interests of depositing public.

Nograles also helped PDIC to achieve ISO certification with the development of new Business Operations on major processes and services, to accelerate deposit claims processing allowing small depositors to be paid without tiresome claims processing. Under his leadership, PDIC, together with BSP, developed and unveiled Strengthening Program for Rural Banks (SPRB). Before PDIC, he worked as senior executive VP of Land Bank of Philippines. There he also worked as treasurer and head of Investment Banking. He obtained a Bachelor degree in Economics, cum laude, from Ateneo de Manila University and an MBA degree from Asian Institute of Management. He is a Fellow of Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD), a non-governmental organization which carries out training and advocacy work for corporate governance and corporate social responsibility.
