Philippines : PHL Embassy Conducts Consular Services Outreach in New Zealands South Island.
A mobile consular team of the Philippine Embassy in Wellington rendered a four-day consular services outreach mission in Dunedin, New Zealand from August 17 to 20. Held at the Conference Centre of the Alhambra Oaks Motor Lodge in North Dunedin, the outreach processed a total of 494 consular transactions comprising passport renewals/applications, civil registration, notarial services, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and Philippine citizenship retention/re-acquisition application and oath-taking. The mission gathered a total of 213 overseas voting (OV) registrants.
The Filipino community members in Dunedin, Queenstown, Invercargill, Winton, Lumsden, Te Anau, Gore, Balclutha, Wanaka, Oamaru, Timaru, Ashburton, Christchurch, and other areas in the South Island greatly appreciated this undertaking as it provided them access to the Philippine Embassys services without travelling farther to Wellington up in the North Island. The outreach was also an opportunity for the Embassy to strengthen its network with the Filipino community in the region and respond to several consular inquiries presented by Filipino applicants.
