Philippines : Group to implement P11-million projects.

A top leader of the Makabayang Koalisyon ng Mamamayan (Makabayan) based in Bataan disclosed Wednesday that a total of P11 million will be allocated next month for the construction of various infrastructure projects and meet the medical needs of the Bataenos.

We supported these partylist solons last May polls with the view that they can deliver the needs of the public and they immediately granted our request to fund various projects including medicines in Bataan, and we are very thankful to them, pointed out Calderon.

A special research scientist at the Bataan Polytechnic State University (BPSU) here, Calderon said that among the programs that he is going to implement include: the purchase of medicines worth P1 million to be coursed through the Bataan General Hospital; P3 million school building to be set up inside the BPSU Orani campus; P3 million farm-to-market road for Orion town; P2 million flood control project for Mariveles town; and another P2 million flood control project in Pilar town.

This P11 million fund is just an initial amount the party-list friends have granted to us and we are going to seek more funds from the congressmen and senators we had supported, pointed out Calderon. The Makabayan chairman said that the P1 million fund for the purchase of medicine was given by Senator Lito Lapid.

This is just an initial amount granted by Senator Lapid to us in Bataan and he pledged to provide more in the coming months, stressed Calderon.

Calderon has been getting in touch with Mayor Charlie Pizarro of Pilar, Jess Concepcion of Mariveles, and Pepe Santos of Orion town for the immediate implementation of the projects in their respective municipalities.

The members of the progressive group continued to swell with the joining of other members from various labor organizations, fishermen, farmers and other employees in the region, even as Calderon expressed optimism that Makabayan can recruit as much as four million members in the coming days in Central Luzon alone.

In Bataan, he said Makabayan has now close to 100,000 members a force to reckon with due to its solid command votes. In an exclusive interview, Calderon said that so far, they already have 3,000 leaders throughout the province whom he called as very active labor leaders.
