Philippines : Govt internship program employs 167 Vizcaya studes.

The Governments Internship Program (GIP) has absorbed at least 167 college and secondary students in the province.

Jerry Nicolas, GIP coordinator of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), said the salaries of the student-beneficiaries was subsidized by the agency's 2017 Special Fund amounting to P5.7 million and 2016 continuing Special Fund of P1 million.

Under the GIP, Nicolas said the beneficiaries are required to work for 22 days per month and 8 hours a day.

They will be working in public agencies and areas preferably near their residence. The beneficiaries should be aged 18 to 32 years old, Nicolas said.

He said the GIP will help the beneficiaries in their quest for work experience as required by public and private employers.
