Philippines : DOLE-2 conducts PESO-YEPA, cultural enhancement activity.

Officials from the different Public Employment Services Office (PESO) in the region were lauded in the recently concluded Year-End Performance Assessment (YEPA) activity of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). The activity covered the accomplishments of PESOs in the region for 2017 vis--vis their targets and plans for the calendar year 2018.

Overall regional accomplishment for 2017 for regular employment includes 37,729 qualified job seekers referred for job placement; 32,570 qualified job seekers placed which is 86% of the set target of 22,645; and 78 LGU-PESO provided capacity building activities through trainings/orientations. While the conference was spent in discussing and presenting the PESOs remarkable achievements in 2017, concerns regarding the delivery of services and implementation of projects and programs were raised and addressed during the discussions.

Issues pointed out included online registration of Associations in the respective Field Offices, submission of monitoring reports of funded projects within the jurisdiction of Field Offices, training needs of the PESO Officers, and others. Awards were also given to the different PESOs during the Cultural Enhancement Activity.

The PESO Santiago City was dubbed as Best Program Implementer of SPES, SRS, Career Guidance Advocacy, and awarded as the 2017 Regional Best PESO for 1st Class Independent Component City category; PESO Penablanca awarded as Best SPES Program Implementer; PESO Abulug for Best Livelihood Program Implementer; PESO Cordon for 2017 Regional Best PESO for 3rd Class Municipal Category; and PESO Tuguegarao City as 2017 Regional BEST PESO for 3rd Class Component City Category.

The PESO Year-End Performance Assessment is one of the activities of DOLE Region 2 to update PESO Managers from different Municipality of the updates on changes in the different DOLE programs and projects.
