Philippines : DOLE 12 hands out PhP1.4 M worth of livelihood projects.
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 12 is handing out PhP1.4 million worth of livelihood project to recipients in Tacurong City.On Wednesday, DOLE 12 Regional Director Ofelia Domingo turned over the check to Mayor Lina Montilla and City Accountant Elma Bides in a ceremony at the DOLE 12 Regional Office here.
At the ceremony, the DOLE 12 and local government unit also signed a memorandum of agreement for the implementation of livelihood project that will be supervised by the latter. According to DOLE 12, the fund was released under the Grassroots Participatory Budgeting or GPB, now known as Bottom Up Budgeting (BUB) and intended as livelihood assistance under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) in form of Kabuhayan starter kits and negokarts.A total of 140 individuals coming from various informal sectors will be the beneficiaries of the livelihood projects.
Among the project beneficiaries are the persons with disability (PWD), former OFWs, electricians and dressmakers. Most of the beneficiaries are graduates of the skills training programs of the Local Government Unit (LGU).Procurement of tools and materials for the starter kits will undergo the usual bidding process of the LGU.Meanwhile, the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) will be in charge in the implementation and monitoring of the project.
