Philippines : Army's 9ID officers, personnel accept PRRD challenge to fight terrorism, drugs.

Such was the challenge in a final message of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to some 600 Spear Troopers in attendance and officers of the Army 9th Infantry Division, led by MGen.Manolito P. Orense, during the presidential sortie at the Army headquartes in Camp Elias Angeles in Barangay San Jose here yesterday.

MSgt. Rosa Maria Lanila, the command sergeant major, shared the sentiment of the Spear Troopers accepting the challenge of the President to ensure peace and order and eliminate the drug menace now infesting not just the urban areas but also the country sides.

We take the challenge of our Commander-in-Chief in full stride and have already started that in our ranks by conducting series of random drug tests in our battalions. Rest assured that we will impose proper sanctions, even summary dismissal to whoever will be found guilty of any drug involvement, Lanila told the media during an interview.

Lanila added that the Presidents visit helped boost the morale of the personnel of the Army division, being the first president of the country to set foot in the camp since the headquarters establishment in 2004.

We are deeply honored. This is a historic moment for all of us, being one of the luckiest camps among the many battalions in the county, to be visited by the President, she added.

Capt. Joash Pramis, chief of the Division Public Affairs Office (DPAO), said that the leardership of the Army's 9ID will not tolerate drug users and pushers among their ranks and will continue to maintain its status as drug-free camp.

In his speech, President Duterte reiterated his reasons why he was seeking for a 6-months extension to clear the county of the drug menace.
