Philippines : 10 beneficiaries get Masskara festival trisikads.

Ten beneficiaries from Barangays 14 and 35 in Bacolod have availed each of MassKara Festival-inspired trisikad (pedicab) from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)- Negros Island Region (NIR) through its Sustainable Livelihood Program. All the trisikad are uniform in design and color, with a smiling mask and the words "MassKara Festival" and "City of Smiles" conspicuously written in front.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia led the distribution of the 10 trisikad at turnover ceremonies at the Bacolod Government Center recently, a press release from the PIO city said. Argentina Basoy, project development officer of DSWD- NIR, said during the turnover rites that the 10 are among the 25 beneficiaries of the program, who belong to the group Massikad Pedicab Sustainable Livelihood Program Association. Each trisikad costs P14,000. The trisikad is under a rent-to-own scheme, where each beneficiary pays P55 a day until fully paid. Leonardia encouraged the beneficiaries to take good care of the trisikad as an appreciation to the DSWD for giving them a source of income.
