Philip Morris Cos. has announced its 3rd-quarter income

Hamish Maxwell, chairman of the board and chief executive officer, Philip Morris Cos., Inc., announced an operating revenue of $33.6 billion, an increase of 45.5 percent over the $23.1 billion in the similar period last year.

Operating revenue in the third quarter of 1989 alone were $11.2 billion, an increase of 45.4 percent compared to the $7.7 billion reported in same period in 1988.

Operating companies income in the third quarter was $1.9 billion, an increase of 43.2 percent over the $1.3 billion realized in last year's third quarter. Total net earnings increased 20.5 percent to $748 million from $621 million for last year's period.
