More than a drug packaging system, Envoy[TM] Automated Medication System brings total automation to the medication distribution process. Unlike other systems, Envoy operates at a nursing home, where it is remotely controlled by the institutional pharmacy. The system acts as a virtual pharmacy, storing 176 different oral solid drugs in bulk quantities with immediate and reserve inventories. The unique inventory management system reduces drug costs, provides predictable restocking and eliminates waste and diversion.

Nurses benefit from the immediate availability of routine medication passes and PRNs. Just prior to the time of administration, Envoy packages drugs into labeled, windowed envelopes. These envelopes are then sorted into a MedTote[TM] carrier in med pass order. Nurses are guaranteed to receive timely and accurate orders. Envoy provides billing information, complete transaction audit trails and inventory planning.

Using Envoy's unparalleled technology, you'll gain time, reduce costs and improve the quality of care.

Quality of care has always been top priority with OPUS Unit Dose, and our systems are designed to assure that the highest level of care is maintained at all times. Each of the OPUS Unit Dose systems provides error-free medication passes, and all systems are tamper-evident.

We feel that quality of care is enhanced with increased nursing staff and resident interaction, because no time is spent setting up medication in the med room before each med pass. The pharmacist performs the invaluable service of setting up the meds, leaving much-needed time for the nurse to be out working with and talking to the residents.

Medication charges to residents might be reduced because only a relatively small supply of meds is kept at the nursing care facility at any given time. This is especially important for the resident who receives frequent medication changes.

LATEX-FREE MEDICAL CARTS

Horned, a division of Homak Manufacturing Co., Inc., has introduced the Latex-Free Cart. This orange latex-free cart will provide an easily recognizable alternative cart to house products for those sensitive to natural rubber latex.

Orange is the designated latex- free color in all healthcare settings. Patients allergic to latex can be given orange wristbands as an alert. The Latex-Free Cart identifies the location of latex-free gloves, surgical tape, wristbands and other latex-free items. Allergies to latex appear to be caused by proteins in the latex. Allergic reactions can range from hives to anaphylactic shock and, in extreme cases - death.

The 5[inches] swivel casters permit easy rolling, while built-in brakes prevent unnecessary roll and swivel. The white ABS plastic work surface is impact resistant and easily removed for cleaning.

MEDICATION MANAGEMENT

PCITransAid offers Preferred Choice[TM] Cabinets - a simple solution for complex medication management, dispensing and storage needs. This complete line of stationary and mobile cabinets is designed to help balance homelike furniture aesthetics with proven medication and management storage design.

Preferred Choice cabinets are manufactured using the same designs and techniques used to make PCITransAid medication and treatment carts for pharmacies and healthcare providers.

PCITransAid can solve your medication dispensing needs using any of its storage and packaging systems, including PharmaCards[TM] and a comprehensive line of medication, treatment and IV therapy carts.

MEDICATION CARTS

The Elite II and III Series medication carts from Waterloo Industries are designed for use in long-term care facilities. Both carts offer 5" swivel casters, a choice of drawer front colors, a full line of optional accessories and a full 5-year Waterloo warranty.

The Elite II medication cart has a maximum capacity of approximately 350 cards and offers service for up to 40 residents. This cart features three full-extension ball drawers with ball bearing slides and a 100-lb. capacity. It is lightweight and easily maneuverable with an ergonomically styled push handle. Other features include three removable drawer tubs; a high-impact ABS top with a secured ridge to contain spills; an Ilco Lock system; removable plastic, aluminum and narcotics card bins; and a waste receptacle and holder.

The large-size Elite III medication cart serves up to 60 residents with a 450-card maximum capacity. This cart has three full- size and three utility drawers with removable white mats to contain spills. In addition, the Elite III has a handle lock, removable best core and a pass-through waste container.
