Peugeot introduces 5008 SUV in Korea.

Hanbul Motors, an official distributor of France's Peugeot in Korea, has introduced the new 5008 seven-seater SUV, joining the nation's heated SUV market.

Boasting the largest interior space among its vehicle segment, Hanbul Motors said the Peugeot 5008 SUV will attract Korean customers with a need for an affordable but luxury seven-seater SUV.

Applying the French carmaker's EMP2 platform, the model's interior space is larger than its competing models in Korea, but was able to reduce its weight by 100 kilograms compared to its predecessor.

The wheelbase is 16.5 centimeters larger while the length is 19 centimeters longer than its predecessor.

The Peugeot 5008 SUV has 236.6 liters of storage space, but the trunk space can be extended to 2,150 liters if folding the rear seats.

The seven-seater mounts a 1.6-liter BlueHDi engine that satisfies Euro 6 emissions standards. The powertrain is combined with six-speed efficient automatic transmission to produce a maximum 120 horsepower with a 30.61 kg.m torque.

It can travel 13.1 kilometer per liter, the longest distance in its vehicle segment, according to a Hanbul Motors official.

Under the Peugeot Advanced Grip Control system, the model offers five drive modes _ Snow, Normal, Mud, Sand and ESP-off. The model's Hill Assist Descent Control also enhances the vehicle's stable driving on various road surfaces.

Inheriting the French carmaker's design philosophy, the 5008 SUV comes with a sleek chrome-pattern radiator grille and a pair of full LED headlamps. The rear features the LED Peugeot-signature rear lamps that symbolize a lion.

The 18-inch diamond-cutting alloy wheels add to the vehicle's masculine exterior.

Receiving five stars in the European New Car Assessment Programme's collision tests, the Peugeot 5008 SUV also boasts its safety by applying various safety systems such as Active Safety Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Active Blind Spot, High-Beam Assistance, Driver Warning Control and Cruise Control.

A Hanbul Motors official said the 5008 SUV sold in Korea also features Front/Rear Parking Assistance, 180-Degree Rear Camera and Dual Air Conditioning to meet Korean consumers' high standards.

The Peugeot 5008 SUV is sold at 42.9 million won ($39,124). The Peugeot 5008 SUV GT model is sold at 46.5 million won.
