Peugeot expands on award-winner.

PEUGEOT has expanded its market-leading diesel range with the introduction of two new models, the 307 Rapier HDi 110 and 406 Rapier HDi 110.

In addition to delivering smooth, performance, impressive fuel economy and low carbon dioxide emissions, the two new diesel models offer great value for money, with high specifications and sporty good looks, making them equally attractive to private motorists and company car drivers.

The 307 Rapier HDi 110, a new addition to the 2002 Car of the Year-winning 307 range is available with three or five-doors.

It has a top speed of 119 mph and accelerates from 0-62mph in 10.9 seconds. Fuel consumption over the combined drive cycle is 54.3 mpg, while a C02 emission level of 138 --g/km means that it qualifies for the lowest Benefit in Kind (BIK) rating for a diesel - 18 per cent.

Standard equipment includes air conditioning and an air-conditioned glovebox, remote control radio/CD with six speakers, one-touch electric front windows with anti-pinch feature and electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors.

Safety is another important feature, and the 307 Rapier HDi 110 comes complete with six airbags, including front and rear curtain airbags. Standard active safety features include anti-lock brakes with Emergency Brake Assist, which guar-antees maximum braking effort in an emergency stop regardless of the force applied to the pedal by the driver.

The 307 Rapier HDi 110 is available from just pounds 14,160 on-the-road.

The 406 Rapier HDi 110 is available in saloon and estate versions. The 406 is already the UK's best-selling medium sector diesel car.

The new model boasts 20 bhp more power than the 406 Rapier HDi 90, but has a lower C02 emission level - 147 g/km (saloon) and 149 g/km (estate) - again giving it the lowest diesel Benefit-in-Kind (BIK) rating of 18 per cent. Fuel consumption of 50.4 mpg and 49.6 mpg (combined drive cycle) for the saloon and estate respectively is equally impressive.

The 2.0-1itre has a top speed of 119mph and from 0-62mph in 12.5 seconds, and takes the estate from 062mph in 12.8 seconds with a maximum speed of 116mph.

Standard features include digital air conditioning with climate control, electric front and rear windows and a remote control radio/CD.

Again there is an impressive safety package including ABS with an Electronic Brake Force Distributor (EBFD), SMART driver and front passenger airbags that react according to the speed and severity of an accident; side airbags, automatic headlights and rain-sensing wipers.

The 406 Rapier HDi 110 is priced from pounds 15,195 on the road.
