Pets of the week; pets corner.

Byline: Scott miller

Roxy is an 11-week-old Yorkshire terrier who lives with Julie Borland and Steven McCombe in Woodfarm, Glasgow.

Where did you get her?

We picked the little star from a litter of nine from a breeder in Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire.

What does she eat?

Pedigree puppy food but she goes mad for chicken and dog chocolate drops.

Where is her name from?

We liked Ruby but Julie's sister Karen said she looked more like a Roxy.

What does she like doing?

Throwing her chew toys in the air then chasing them and chasing labradors in the park. She also likes hiding behind wardrobes.

How does she behave around people?

She's very affectionate but because she's still a pup, she often pees with excitement when meeting new folk.

What's the oddest thing she has done?

Pee on a family member's jumper, sleep on a shelf of our TV cabinet and eaten things she shouldn't have.

Mary is an eight-year-old Airedale terrier who lives with Cameron McGilvary in Addiewell, West Lothian.

Where did you get her?

From a farm in Neilston, Renfrewshire.

What does she eat?

Lamb and rice kibble and ginger nut biscuits as a treat.

Where is her name from?

We thought it was as good a name as any and that she looks like a Mary.

What does she like doing?

Chasing birds in the garden, going for long walks and chasing anything that moves.

How does she behave around people?

She is quite a friendly little thing but when you try to clap her she sometimes tries to have a wee chew at your hand.

What's the oddest thing she has done?

She watched me spend ages planting shrubs in my rockery once then when I went away she pulled them out and chewed them to bits.

Samantha and Amelie are three-year-old Abyssinian cats who live with Bob and Isobel Gray in Dumbarton.

Where did you get them?

From a breeder in Ambleside, Cumbria, when they were 16 weeks old.

What do they eat?

Samantha will eat almost anything but loves Ollie dry food. Amelie is very fussy and loves a supermarket's own brand. They both love their weekly treat of chicken breast.

Where are their names from?

Their mother's name was Amelia so we went for the French Amelie. For Samantha, we just felt the name suited her. Amelie's pedigree name is Annera Coral Sea while Samantha's is Annera Diamantina.

What do they like doing?

Chasing each other all round the house, play fighting and watching birds.

How do they behave around people?

They are both very shy with strangers and hide under the bed when folk visit.

What's the oddest thing they have done?

Samantha takes dish towels upstairs and Amelie hides her toys under the fridge.

Alaska is a one-year-old Siberian husky who lives with Claire Thomson in Motherwell.

Where did you get her?

From a breeder in Ayrshire.

What does she eat?

Everything and anything she can get her paws on but she loves tripe and salmon.

Where is her name from?

What better name for a husky? Her breed are famous for pulling sleds in the country.

What does she like doing?

True to her nature, she loves pulling sleds and bikes.

How does she behave around people?

She is a very affectionate dog who loves everyone.

What's the oddest thing she has done?

She copied the movie huskies when they howled during the film Snow Dogs.
