1 About This Quilt

1 Paula loved Ellie Scrimsher's quilt The Original Thirteen from the Sept/Oct 2015 issue so much that she created her own miniature version of it.

A design wall or large flat surface will come in handy when assembling the quilt top.

2 Making the Flying Geese, Units and Blocks

Refer to "Fast Flying Geese" in Basic Lessons. Use assorted A's and 4 matching assorted cream B's to make 13 sets of 4 matching Flying Geese as shown.

Refer to "Triangle-Squares" in Basic Lessons. Pair cream tone-ontone C's and red dot C's to make 52 unit 1's.

Refer to "Stitch & Flip" in Basic Lessons. Use cream tone-ontone D's and red dot E's to make 10 unit 2's as shown. Use red dot D's and cream tone-on-tone E's to make 13 unit 3's as shown.

Sew the 4 matching Flying Geese, 4 matching blue E's and a matching cream F together as shown to make a block. Make 13 blocks.

3 Assembling the Quilt Center

Refer to the assembly diagram. Sew patches, units and blocks together as shown to make 2 row l's, 4 row 2's, 2 row 3's, 2 row 4's and 1 row 5. Sew the rows together as shown.

4 Quilting and Finishing Layer and baste together the backing, batting and quilt top.

Refer to the quilting placement diagram. Quilt an allover pattern of loops and stars as shown.
