Peterson Packing a punch.

Byline: NFL by Keith Webster

ADRIAN PETERSON reckons Minnesota have "the desire" to kick the Green Bay Packers while they are down and take control of the race to the Super Bowl.

The Packers opened the season with six straight wins but have now lost three in a row.

The Vikings lost two of their first four but an outstanding season from running back Peterson has seen them rattle off five consecutive wins.

That has put them top of the NFC Northern division, a game ahead of Green Bay and with a chance tonight to put a serious dent in the Packers' hopes. Peterson said: "You don't get too many opportunities in this league, especially when you're playing against Green Bay.

"I'm definitely feeling a shift in the mentality of the team, the way we approach it with the fight, the will and the desire to win no matter what.

"We don't take lightly what they did before they got on a three-game losing streak. They're going to come in ready to play. They've got Aaron Rodgers so they always have a chance. We're not fooled."
