Pete Coors is named Chairman of Coors brewing unit; Kiely ascends to CEO post.

Peter Coors, 53, great-grandson of the Coors brewery's founder, has replaced his uncle, William Coors, as chairman of the Coors Brewing Co. unit and as CEO of the parent Adolph Coors Company. William Coors, now 83, will remain in his post as chairman of Adolph Coors Company.

Leo Kiely, president and chief operating officer of Coors Brewing Co., has become president and chief executive of the brewing unit.

In a statement, the company said that Kiely will continue to focus on day-to-day operations at the brewery, and Pete Coors will concentrate o strategic plans and industry issues.

Analysts said that the shifts simply solidified the existing management structure, with Bill Coors gradually reducing his management responsibilities at the companies.
