Peru : MINAGRI trains coffee producers in the San Martn region.

The Alto Huallaga Special Project (PEAH) has been executing the Project "Expansion and Development of Capacities to Increase the Production and Productivity of Coffee Cultivation", in the district of Uchiza, Tocache - San Martin".

The beneficiaries are 924 coffee growers from Alto Loboyacu, Alto Ramal de Cachiyacu, Alto Shapaja, Alto Kunyag, Cahuide, Bolaina, Alto Huaynabe, Pampa Hermosa, Santo Domingo del Espino, San Cristbal, Alto Pezo, Santa Rosa de Maquiute, San Andrs de Tomas and Tingo de Uchiza.

The project aims to increase and manage the production of coffee, as well as to improve the quality of the grain.

These activities include from the installation of nurseries, preparation and installation of final field, soil management (composting), installation of temporary and permanent shade (association of crops), repopulation of the area (recalce), phytosanitary management, training pruning, management pruning and in some cases phytosanitary pruning.

This project will also implement modules of organic fertilizers to be used in the production of the crop. This year's intervention includes technical assistance visits to the beneficiaries, training them in good practices of crop management and teaching 05 coffee post-harvest courses.
