Persistence in the Enterprise: A Guide to Persistence Technologies.
Persistence in the enterprise; a guide to persistence technologies.
Ed. by Roland Barcia et al.
The authors (all affiliated with IBM's Software Services for WebSphere team) combine two tasks with this book. They first provide a guide to the issues and trade-offs involved in choosing a Java persistence mechanism for relational data stores in chapters that provide a brief history of relevant persistence mechanisms, business drivers and associated information technology requirements, implementation issues associated with object-relational mapping, and a means of assessing the choice of mechanism. Secondly, they present the relevant data for Java Database Connectivity, iBATIS, Hibernate, Jaja Persistence API, and pureQuery in order to demonstrate the approaches discussed in the first part of the text.
