PeopleSoft Delivers Next Generation Federal HRMS Applications.

PeopleSoft, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise application software, today announced that PeopleSoft 7 HRMS for U.S. Federal Government will be generally available later this month. The release adds Payroll for U.S. Federal Government, Benefits Administration for U.S. Federal Government, Payroll Interface for U.S. Federal Government, and Time and Labor to PeopleSoft's suite of human resources management software. In addition, this release delivers enhanced Human Resources functionality, significant technology enhancements including a flexible high-performance three-tier processing option, a new Web client, web-based self-service applications, and integrated on-line analytical processing (OLAP).

Software to Manage and Streamline the Federal Workplace

PeopleSoft HRMS for U.S. Federal Government is a tailored version of the industry-leading PeopleSoft HRMS application suite that automates and streamlines the ability to meet requirements for the unique federal human resources guidelines and operating practices. It leverages advanced workflow to seamlessly administer, track, and route personnel action requests for approvals, authorizations, and notifications.

PeopleSoft Human Resources for U.S. Federal Government incorporates a streamlined Personnel Action Request process that supports cancellation and corrections, retroactive actions, and detail assignment processing along with Central Personnel Data File (CPDF) editing and interfaces. A highlight of this release is the new federal Staffing and Recruiting module. Human Resources core functionality includes Position Management and Classification, Competency Management, Staffing and Recruiting, Performance Management, Bonuses and Awards, Training Administration, Career Planning, and Salary Administration.

The Base Benefits features of PeopleSoft Human Resources for U.S. Federal Government will support leave processing and accrual, court-ordered benefits, assignment of life insurance benefits, living benefit elections and retirement options. With Internet applications, interactive voice technology, and self-service kiosks, employees can easily update and enroll in benefit plans.

PeopleSoft Benefits Administration for U.S. Federal Government automates benefits enrollment for the federal government's "open season" and "non-open season" processing, including open seasons for Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB), Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), and Federal Employee Group Life Insurance (FEGLI). In addition, the system supports out-of-season event maintenance.

PeopleSoft Payroll for U.S. Federal Government provides a complete solution for those organizations that choose in-house payroll processing, including the ability to calculate earnings and deductions, maintain balances, and report data to external interfaces. The application supports standard payroll and personnel reporting with the SF-113A and SF-113G Workforce Utilization reports. In addition, it generates and transmits the schedule of payments (SF 1166) for Treasury disbursement, packages employee data for the Retirement and Insurance Transfer System (RITS), sends applicable data to the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) interface, and allows multiple allotments for DD/EFT processing. It calculates FEHB premiums for part-time and temporary employees, and processes overtime and compensatory time (including locality adjustments) and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime calculations.

PeopleSoft Payroll Interface for U.S. Federal Government allows human resource, payroll, and benefits data to be easily transferred from PeopleSoft HRMS to a third-party payroll provider -- whether the provider uses the PeopleSoft Payroll system or another system. It provides the ability to import employee payroll details and balance data from any third-party payroll system to a PeopleSoft HRMS database.

PeopleSoft Time and Labor for U.S. Federal Government provides an innovative time and labor distribution system that allows an organization to collect and retrieve employee data, calendar information, vacation, leave, and sick-time accruals. It also enables employee costs to be mapped to the proper earnings codes for payroll processing.

Advanced Technology Improving Performance, Service, and Access

PeopleSoft 7 HRMS for U.S. Federal Government delivers significant technology enhancements including a flexible high-performance three-tier processing option, a new Web client, and integrated on-line analytical processing (OLAP). It also marks the general availability of Universal Applications for self-service transactions on the World Wide Web.

This release provides customers with three-tier architecture capabilities, leveraging BEA TUXEDO middleware for greater scalability and improved performance across wide area networks. The addition of the new Web client allows developers the flexibility to deploy a single application definition on both Windows and Web clients, providing support for multiple deployment strategies and platform environments.

PeopleSoft 7 HRMS for U.S. Federal Government includes a series of Universal Applications that can be deployed on demand to desktops equipped with a Java-enabled web browser. These applications provide intuitive self-service functionality across the Internet and intranets for transactions associated with human resources, payroll, benefits, accounting, and distribution functions. To meet the demand for improved information access and analysis, PeopleSoft has adopted a strategy that integrates OLAP tools at all levels, from the desktop to the data warehouse. Beginning with this release, PeopleSoft will offer integration with both Cognos' PowerPlay OLAP tools and Arbor's Essbase OLAP Server.
