People urged to take advantage of ongoing nutrition campaign.
MIANWALI -- Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Health Dr Latif Sahi Tuesday said the Health Department was striving to make mother-child week successful, adding that the ongoing nutrition campaign would continue till Oct 6.
He called upon people to benefit from the campaign as teams of Health Department are making all-out efforts to create awareness among people regarding breast-feeding and nutritional requirements of mother and child.
During the campaign 62, 086 children from 6 to 24 months age and 2, 539 children from 2 to 5 years age will be provided food supplements, he said.
The CEO said that 33, 215 pregnant women and 62, 086 women feeding their infants would be contacted at homes and their screening would be conducted to advise them proper nutritional feed.
A seminar would be organized at Girls College to highlight the importance of mother feeding, nutritional needs and its impact on mother-child health, Iron and Folic Acid tablets would be distributed among mothers free of cost.
During the ongoing campaign 248, 347 couples would be provided family planning medicines.
Lady Health Workers (LHWs) would also distribute Vitamin and Minerals among weak children he said.
