Spears Group has hired Heather Ferdinand as its new events operations manager and Melvin Cade Jr. as account coordinator. Elle Schmidt has been promoted to the role of senior account manager.

Anjanette Tournillon has been hired as account manager and marketing specialist and Jorie-Brae Morgan has been hired as a marketing assistant at 30|90 Marketing.


Xavier University has received a$465,894grant to help minority businesses better prepare for disasters and their aftermath.

Tulane University's A. B. Freeman School of Business and the School of Liberal Arts have received a $3.5 million gift from Carole and Kenneth Boudreaux to create a scholarship fund for graduate students and establish the Kenneth J. Boudreaux MBA '67 Professorship in Finance. It will also establish the Carole Barnette Boudreaux NC '65 Creative Writing Endowed Fund.

The Louisiana Community and Technical College System has awarded Delgado Community College an $894,533 grant for its Maritime and Industrial Training Program from the Workforce Training Rapid Response Fund.

Victor Mirzai, professor in the Delgado Architecture Program and a 36-year faculty member, is retiring.

Loyola University has named Sarah Kelly senior vice president for enrollment management and student affairs.


State Treasurer John Schroder has appointed Renee' Fontenot Free as executive counsel and Rachel Kincaid as deputy state treasurer.


William "Bill" DiPaolahas joined Ballard Brands as chief operating officer andLeslie Monsonas chief marketing officer.

Leo Caillier Jr. has joined Coaxum Enterprises, Inc. as director of operations.


The New Orleans Bar Foundation has elected the following Board of Directors for 2018-19: Angelina Christina, president; Mark Surprenant, vice president; Elizabeth Sconzert, secretary; Michael Mestayer, treasurer; Walt Leger Jr., past president; and Katherine Swartout, director.

The New Orleans Bar Association has sworn in Jason Waguespack as its 2018-2019 president.

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana has selected Liskow & Lewis lawyer Dana Marie Douglas as a U.S. Magistrate Judge for the District.
