People in action to steal flexos, banners after voting.

LAHORE -- People collected thousands of flexos, banners and other items displayed by candidates in the Punjab capital and other parts of the province soon after completion of the polling process on Saturday.

The roads, streets and markets which were full of flexos and banners etc during electioneering, were mostly cleared within few hours after the polling process, eye-witnesses told.

They said that people would sell used flexos at almost Rs 500 per kg. The flexos and banners are used for making tarpaulin to avoid rain and the sun.

Unemployed youths and street boys had a good chance of earning money through the illegal activity, they said.

Iron bars, used for displaying flexos etc and their unorganized removal caused serious threats to electric and telecommunications lines, said Majlis-e-Samaji Karkunan-e-Pakistan (MSKP) President Ch. Khalid Pervaiz.

MSKP has demanded authorities concerned to launch a cleanliness operation to restore the beauty of the city and other parts of the province.
