Pensioner shot and killed dog.

A 72-year-old man shot and killed a dog on Monday night in a Larnaca district village.

A man living at Governor's Beach told officers at Zygi police station on Monday evening that his five-year-old Staffordshire Terrier had been shot dead with a hunting shotgun at around 6pm.

Police were led to the pensioner who admitted to shooting the dog.

Officers seized the shotgun and five cartridges before releasing the man.

A necropsy on the dead animal was expected to be carried out on Tuesday.
