Pelosi says first open hearings in Trump impeachment probe "successful day of truth".

WASHINGTON, Nov 14 (KUNA) -- US Speaker of House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that the first open hearings on Wednesday on the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump was a "successful day of truth." Pelosi told reporters during a news conference that "yesterday, I thought it was a successful day for truth." She stressed that the testimony provided by two State Department officials "corroborated evidence of bribery" by Trump. "The devastating testimony corroborated evidence of bribery covered in the inquiry and the president abused power and violated his oath by threatening to withhold military aid and a White House meeting in exchange for an investigation into his political rival," she noted. She added "a clear attempt of the president to give himself the advantage in the 2020 election." She continued saying "doing so, said to the president, jeopardize our national security, undermine our national security, jeopardize the integrity of our electoral system, violates your oath of office." Asked about what is the bride to do, Pelosi responded "the bribe is to withhold military assistance in return for a public statement of a fake investigation into the elections. That's bribery." US Charge D'affaires in Ukraine William Taylor appeared alongside Deputy Assistant Secretary George Kent on Wednesday at the first open hearing by the House of Representative on the Democratic-led impeachment inquiry into Trump. The second public impeachment hearing is scheduled for Friday, during which former ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch is to testify. (end) si
