A MAN'S leg was broken in several places when a gang stole his mini motorcycle from under him.

The victim, aged 24, was sitting at the side of the road in Armson Road, Exhall, at about 11.10pm on Friday with another peewee bike owner when they were approached by three males intent on stealing the bikes.

His friend managed to ride off but the victim was pulled off his machine and sustained several breaks to his leg when the gang continued to hit him and stamp on his legs as he lay on the ground.

One of the attackers then got on the 49cc bike and rode off, while the two others ran off.

Passers-by raised the alarm and the injured man was taken to hospital, where he has undergone surgery.
