Peek at the week.

MONDAY: Panorama (BBC1, 10.00pm). Football is a winners' game, but this expose of the multi- billion pound global soccer industry shows fans as the losers.

While supporters are prepared to pay for tickets at black-market prices, sponsors offer free match entry to the chosen few. As the World Cup kicks off, Panorama reveals how the money-makers put fans at the bottom of their list.

TUESDAY: Fantasy World Cup (ITV, 10.40pm). David Baddiel and Frank Skinner transfer their hit comedy football show from BBC to ITV.

The series of special live World Cup shows is to go out four times a week, with an international line- up of stars, including Hugh Grant, Noel Gallagher and Tracy Ullman.

WEDNESDAY: Sportscene World Cup 98 (BBC1, 11.05am). What other highlight is there than the Scotland v Brazil match, kicking off at 4.30pm?

Sportscene gives us the warm-up, with the Brazil v Italy 1970 final at 11.10am and more vintage football with 1978's Scotland v Holland clash at 1.25pm.

The real action begins at 2.30pm, with the run-up to this year's opening match between Scotland and Brazil.

THURSDAY: World Cup 98 Live (ITV, 4.15pm/BBC1, 7.30pm). Live coverage of Italy v Chile kicks off at 4.15pm on ITV, with Cameroon v Austria showing live on BBC1 at 7.30pm.

The encounters signal the start of Group B's matches and should quench the appetite of any World Cup enthusiast. This is Chile's first appearance in the finals since 1982, but their line-up includes star striker Marcelo Salas.

FRIDAY: World Cup 98 Live (ITV, 1.15pm/BBC1, 4.10pm/ITV, 7.50pm). A day of intense World Cup football action, beginning with Group D's Paraguay v Bulgaria which kicks off at 1.15pm.

Then at 4.10pm, there is Group C's Saudi Arabia v Denmark, with host nation France's opening match against South Africa due to start at 7.50pm.

Watch out for outrageously flamboyant Paraguay goalkeeper Jose-Luis Chilavert, who is bound to make an impression with his antics.
