Pedestrian killed.

A PEDESTRIAN was killed and another seriously injured when they tried to cross a major highway in Manama yesterday.

The accident happened at around 10.15am when the Pakistanis were crossing the Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Highway.

They were hit by a Mercedes, driven by a Bahraini teenager, which then crashed into a palm tree.

Atta ur Rehman, 31, died instantly after being thrown 82 metres by the impact, said General Directorate of Traffic culture director Major Moosa Al Dossary.

His companion and the 18-year-old driver suffered serious injuries.

Traffic and Civil Defence officials arrived at the scene and removed the car. The injured have been admitted to Salmaniya Medical Complex.
