Peace seminar at PU.
LAHORE -- Education and justice are important to establish peace and promote culture of tolerance in society.
This was stated by Punjab University acting Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Taqi Zahid Butt while addressing a peace seminar organised by the Centre for Clinical Psychology on Friday to pay homage to the martyrs of Army Public School.
Punjab Higher Education Commission Director General Dr Shahid Soroya, analyst retired Brig Ghazanfar Ali, journalist Salman Abid, Faculty of Life Sciences Dean Prof Dr Naeem Khan, Centre for Clinical Psychology Director Prof Dr Rukhsana Kausar, faculty members and students were present on the occasion. The students presented a tableau to show the brutality of terrorists and courage of martyrs and their relatives.
Prof Butt said: 'We should not limit the scope of justice only to the courts but also promote social justice through personal acts by accepting rights of others.'
He said steps should also be taken to counter extremism by educating children at the school level.
Ali said a proxy war had been imposed on Pakistan and a positive thinking must be promoted among students as they were agents of change.
Dr Soroya said: 'Students come to universities to get education and we have to train them by starting student societies for promotion of positive activities.' Later, the PU acting vice chancellor led a walk to pay homage to the martyrs.
