Payout in sack row; TRIBUNAL.

A GREENKEEPER sacked for having a bruised arm yesterday won pounds 24,000 at an employment tribunal.

Paul Hodges, 58, took a sick note to his golf club last June but instead of letting him take the six weeks off recommended by his doctor, boss Dave Barling axed him.

Judge Quintin Barry said at the Ashford hearing it was hard to imagine a "grosser breach of requirements".

Mr Hodges, of Rainham, Kent, who suffered the bicep injury at nearby Upchurch River Valley Golf Club, said: "I'm very pleased."
