Paying the penalty for a cutting remark.

SPARE a thought for my humbled colleague, Rodney Masters. The Post's esteemed Lambourn correspondent forecast on January 2: "If none of Jamie Osborne's first half-dozen runners returns home a winner, I will cut the grass on the Mandown gallops with a pair of scissors."

While Osborne still waits to break his duck with his all-weather squad, Masters was as good as his word this week. He got down on bended knee to carry out his onerous task, watched by a bemused Jamie.
