Pay blast.

Union leaders have blasted Government plans to pay North East court workers less than their colleagues in the South.

The Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union said the "unprecedented" plans would lead to a North-South divide among staff who work in magistrates, crown and county courts.

The Department for Constitutional Affairs plans would see the starting salaries in Wales and Northern England of around pounds 11,700 compared with pounds 14,400 for employees in other parts of the country.
