Pauline M. (Gniadek) Roche, 70.
UXBRIDGE Pauline M. (Gniadek) Roche, 70, a lifelong resident of Uxbridge, died Mon., Oct 1, 2007 at the Life Care Center of Auburn. Her husband of 43 years, Joseph J. Roche, died February 24, 2007.
She is survived by a brother, John J. Gniadek and his wife Lucille of Uxbridge; two sisters: Irene K. Picard, wife of Ernest O. Picard of Uxbridge and Maryann Auger, wife of Robert L. Auger of South Grafton; and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her brother, Henry J. Gniadek in 2006. Born in Uxbridge on October 16, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Stella M. (Rak) Gniadek.
Mrs. Roche was a graduate of Uxbridge High School; she received her Bachelors Degree in Education and her Masters Degree in Education from Worcester State College. She was a teacher for the Northborough public school system for 37 years; she received the Anna M. Seaver Award (Northborough Teacher of the Year) in 1963. She was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association, the National Education Association and the Uxbridge Historical Society.
Pauline was also an active member of St. Marys Parish, serving as a Lecturer, Eucharistic Minister, Church Sacristan, CCD teacher and was a member of the churchs Finance and Liturgy Committees. She volunteered at Lydia Taft Nursing Home in Uxbridge, bringing communion service to the residents. Pauline was co-chairperson with her husband, Joseph in the 1991 Worcester Diocesan Bishops Fund, the Bishops Fund for St. Marys Church for 25 years and the Annual St. Marys Church chicken barbecue for 14 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 5, 2007 at 12 noon in St. Marys Church, 77 Mendon St. (Rt. 16) in Uxbridge. Burial will follow at St. Marys Cemetery. A brief Prayer Service will begin calling hours on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at 3:30 p.m., which will be held at St. Marys Church. Calling hours will continue at the church until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paulines memory may be made to St. Marys Building Fund, 77 Mendon St. Uxbridge MA 01569.
