Paterson Euro bid.

INJURY-HIT Glasgow Caledonians have handed Gala youngster Chris Paterson the shock chance to become a European star.

The Gala kid was called in for today's Euro Cup warm-up with Ulster after stand-off Tommy Hayes was ruled out with a bruised hand.

Caley spokesman Bill McMurtie said: "Chris is one of the young lads on SRU scholarships who've been seconded to us.

"This is his chance to make a name for himself on the big stage and persuade coach Keith Robertson he should be part of his European plans."

In tonight's other warm-up clash, Edinburgh Reivers play Munster.
