Passport staff on strike.

PASSPORT office workers were today due to stage a 24-hour strike in a row over pay.

Unions warned the walkout would cause "severe disruption".

The Public and Commercial Services union said 2500 staff at seven offices, including Glasgow and London, would down tools.

Staff voted 3-1 in favour of strike action in protest at the lack of a pay offer two months after the supposed settlement date.

The union's general secretary, Mark Serwotka, said: "Staff have grown increasingly frustrated by the inaction of the employer."

A passport service spokeswoman said: "We are working hard to progress this matter."
