Participation in polls damaging freedom movement: Gilani.
ISLAMABAD -- Veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, has urged the Kashmiri people not to be carried away by proIndia politicians' theatrical rhetoric and ensure complete boycott of the farcical elections.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar termed all proIndia parties as birds of the same feather. He pointed out that all these parties followed the same political policy, reported.
"Development and change of faces are lame excuses and in no case can justify the participation in the elections. Polls and freedom movement are quite different and casting vote will prove detrimental to the movement," he said.
The veteran leader maintained that the Kashmiris had presented enormous sacrifices and their motive was securing their right to selfdetermination.
"Freedom struggle is a sacred movement for people of Jammu and Kashmir. It is obligatory for every one of us to be loyal to it. We should feel duty bound to safeguard the sacrifices of our martyrs. Our first and foremost obligation is that we should boycott the elections," he added.
Syed Ali Gilani called upon the students of schools, colleges, universities and Darul Ulooms to carry out doortodoor election boycott campaign in their respective areas.
