Parliament resents over OGDCL, PPLs hirings.

Islamabad, March 07, 2012 (Balochistan Times): A parliamentary panel showed resentment over Oil and Gas Development Company Limited(OGDCL) and Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) for hiring services of 3rd party contractor in recruitment of people from Sui and directed officials to submit detailed report in next meeting. Meeting of National assembly standing committee on Inter Provincial Coordination Tuesday held under the chair of Mir Ahmedan Bugti in which Dr Araish Kumar, Syed Nasir Ali shah, Haji Roz-ud-Din, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Suriya Asghar, Dr Donya Aziz, Dr Muhammad Ayub sheikh, Syed Mumtaz Alam Gilani and Tasneed Ahmed Qureshi participated. Committee showed their annoyance about hiring of the employees in OGDCL under Aghaz-e- Huqooq-e Balochistan Package through 3rd party contractors and incomplete briefing given by OGCDL. Chairman Mir Ahmedan Bugti said that if companies are hiring people through 3rd party contractor then what are the businesses of administrations. He said that companies are wasting money and no work has been done on practical grounds. Chairman said that more than two billion rupees were spent by OGDCL for purchase of arms for security of installations but these weapons have not provided yet. He asked where this huge amount has been spent. MD PPL Asim told the committee that production from Sui is decline from 4 to 5 % annually and company has stopped new recruitments. Briefing on account of LIP/NIP funds, he said PPL does not have any fund for LIP/NIP however PPL is required to extend certain facilities in kind to tribal chieftain in a meeting held at Dera Bugti on Sep 30 2001. He said through an agreement 13 vehicles, 70 barrels diesel and engine oil was provided to Bugti. The committee showed concern over absence of Minister and the secretary ministry of petroleum and natural resources giving funds to tribal chieftains. Mir Ahmedan Bugti said that Nawabs and bureaucracy destroyed the infrastructure in Balochistan. He said that a major is running the system of the area. The chairman raised the matter of suspension of the three persons belonging to Dera Bugti from PPL. The committee ordered the concerned ministry and PPL to settle the matter and report the standing committee on its next meeting.
