Paris in art fever.

The art world will congregate in the French capital from October 22-25, as Paris holds the 42nd FIAC contemporary art fair, one of the world's biggest of its kind.

The recently renovated Grand Palais serves as the central location for the fair. For four days, collectors, art dealers and visitors will mingle under its magnificent glass and steel dome.

175 galleries from 25 countries will be presenting the latest trends in the art scene. Next to exhibits by newcomers, works by big names like Julian Schnabel, Henrique Oliveira or Massimo Minini will be on display.

FIAC is seen as one of the most important fairs in the world of art. It also has a great effect on cultural life in the Seine metropolis. Exhibitions, installations and events will be taking place at different locations in Paris under the theme "Hors les Murs" (Beyond the Walls).

These will be held among others on the banks and quaysides of the river Seine, the Jardin des Tuilleries, the Place Vendome or the Jardin des Plantes. The first highlight will be the long night of the galleries (Nocturne des Galeries) which will take place on Thursday.

Until Sunday, over 70,000 visitors are expected to attend the fair. The FIAC contemporary art fair was founded in 1974. Next year, it is will be held for the first time outside of France -- in Los Angeles.
