Parents are so weird I can't invite friends over.

Byline: Joan Burnie

Q MY parents are really weird. My dad is 63 and my mum is in her fifties.

I am 15. The weird thing is they don't have any relations or friends.

All my grandparents are dead. I don't have any cousins and I am an only child. So we have seen literally no one during the holidays.

They got three Christmas cards.

They're happy with each other and I wonder why they bothered having me. I can't bring anyone home as they're just too weird.

A SEEMS to me they're not so much weird as merely older than many kids' parents.

They also enjoy their own company - and yours too, I'm sure - which is better than being at each others' throats. It's a shame you don't have more of an extended family, but you appear to be the one stopping yourself from having close friends.

So have your mates over. I'm sure they'll find your parents no weirder than anyone else's.
