Parent's place on panel.
The new representative will work alongside councillors on the scrutiny panel and will deal with educational issues and other matters that affect young children living in Kirklees.
The elected member, who will be representing all parents in Kirklees as a whole, will also help scrutinise and develop policies, as well as tackle current concerns.
These will include financial management of schools - including job opportunities for children.
The panel, which acts as the council's 'watchdog', monitors the decision-making process of the Cabinet, the council and its partners.
Nomination forms and electoral procedures have been sent out to all parent governors who have until next Monday, March 12, to submit their applications.
But the role has also been opened up to representatives from all school categories.
Anyone interested in the position should contact 01484221687 or alternatively email scrutiny.governance @kirklees.gov.uk
