Pardue wins Friend of FAWL Award.

The Florida Association for Women Lawyers held its Ninth Annual Conference on Women and the Law in conjunction with the Florida Bar's Midyear meeting in Miami.

At the luncheon, Carolyn Pardue, FAWL's executive director, received the Friend of FAWL Award for her dedication and promotion of FAWL's goals and objectives. Pardue has been FAWL's executive director since 1998 and FAWL lobbyist since 1999. In addition to her service to FAWL, Pardue has been recognized for her service to the Hugh O'Brien Youth Foundation, Florida Hospices, Florida Nurses Association, Florida Nursing Students, and Planned Parenthood.

Justice Barbara Pariente, luncheon keynote speaker, gave a talk on "The Importance of Judicial Independence," and Rep. Cindy Lerner presented a legislative preview. Justice Pariente urged more women attorneys to seek service on the bench and Rep. Lerner urged more women to run for the legislature.
