Paraguay : KRNA to work on $1 million PARAGUAY contract.
On Monday, the Korea Rail Network Authority (KRNA) announced winning a major opportunity to take part in a major project initiated by the government of Paraguay.
Led by Facultad de Ingenieria de la Universidad Nacional de Asuncion (FIUNA), a state-run agency of the South American country, the business project aims at studying the feasibility of railway services connecting Asuncion and Ypacarai. With this contract, the KRNA marks its entry into the South American railway market.
$1.09 million light rail project in Paraguay is an ambitious public project which is designed to reduce traffic jams in Asuncion, the capital city of Paraguay, and establishing its transport infrastructure networks. The project is scheduled to begin from this month and its completion will be by the end of this year.
Towards this project, KRNA is also to collaborate with the Asuncion University.
A KRNA official said, On the basis of this contract, KRNA will strive in its efforts to win subsequent contracts in the field of railway design and construction. KRNA will secure a bridgehead for Korean private companies to participate in Paraguay's rail construction project later.
