Panto pick-me-up.

A fairytale visitor brought some magic to sick children at a North East hospital when she called in to see them.

Snow White, the Royal Tax Collector and Muddles the Court Jester visited youngsters in the Treetops Children's Unit at Durham's University Hospital. They are the stars of the Durham City Gala Theatre's panto, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Anna Flowers, who plays Snow White, Paul Hartley, who plays the Royal Tax Collector, and Pee Wee Price, who plays Muddles, were all in full costume to bring some festive cheer to the children who are all due to spend Christmas in hospital.

Angela Trainor, nursery nurse at Treetops Children's Unit, said: "The children were so excited about meeting the panto characters. It'll really make their Christmas."

The stars spent over an hour in the unit.

Snow White runs at the Gala until Saturday January 8. Tickets cost pounds 12.50 and pounds 9.50 with various discounts available.
