Panel Discussion on Social Study Outcomes.

Muscat, Dec 18 (ONA) --- The Ministry of Social Development, represented by the Social Studies and Indicators Department, today organized a panel discussion to discuss the outcomes of its study on the economic and social effects of the expatriate manpower on the Omani society and the effect of the housemaids on the characteristics of the Omani family in Muscat Governorate. The panel discussion was held under the auspices of Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed al-Sa'eedi, Secretary General of State Council in the presence of Dr. Yahya bin Badr al-Ma'awali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development.

The panel discussion covered the effect of the social and cultural background of the mother on the consumption pattern of the family in the Sultanate.

Dr. Yahya bin Badr al-Ma'awali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development said that this study comes as part of the Ministry's interest in conducting studies on the important issues, in collaboration with experts and other stakeholders.

The panel discussion aimed at casting light on the reasons that led to this phenomenon, as well as the presenting outcomes of the study in a bid to help decision and policy makers to make informed-decisions.

The panel discussion also aimed at advising professionals, experts and decision makers of the outcomes of such studies to benefit from them in reality.
