Japanese consumer electronics company Panasonic Corporation (NYSE:PC) (TOKYO:6752) said today that it will file a shelf registration statement with the Japanese regulatory authorities concerning possible issues of stock acquisition rights in the form of a rights offering to shareholders.

The issuable amount will be JPY5.0bn, representing the total amount to be paid upon exercise of all stock acquisition rights. There will be no issue price for the stock acquisition rights.

Under the terms of the shelf registration statement the issuable period covers two years from the effective date of the shelf registration of stock acquisition rights, or from 23 May 2011 through to 22 May 2013.

This shelf registration statement will enable Panasonic to promptly issue stock acquisition rights if it deems necessary, the company said.
