Panama : The ACP Budget Is Approved.

In the third debate, the budget of the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) was approved, for a figure of 3,239.5 million balboas, which will take effect in October of this year.

According to the administrator of the interoceanic highway, Jorge Quijano, after 18 years under the Panamanian mandate, the ACP has multiplied by 10 the first contribution that was provided to the national coffers, in the year 2000, which was 167 million of balboas.

According to estimates, the Panama Canal will deliver this year to the National Treasury about 1,736.6 million balboas.

The special regulations that protect the ACP, specifies that the fiscal period of this entity begins on October 1, 2018 and ends on September 30, 2019.

According to the General Budget of the State, most of the contribution of the Panama Canal will be allocated to the Ministries of Public Works, with 744 million balboas; of Housing and Land Management (MIVIOT), with 331 million, and Health with 229.5 million balboas.

Other entities that will also receive part of the contributions of the ACP are MIDES, with 241 million; MEDUCA, with 115 million; the Ministry of the Presidency, with 69 million; the MIDA with 6 million, and the MITRADEL, with 1.6 million balboas.

An increase of 212.7 million balboas is projected compared to the previous one and 1,228.9 million balboas are included for waterway operations and equipment maintenance.

In the budget of the ACP, it is estimated that 66.9 million will be for the sale of electricity and 35.5 million will be the product of water purification.
