Pan-Arab Union of Economic and Social Councils focus of meeting between Social Affairs Minister and President of Lebanese Economic and Social Council.

(TAP)- Minister of Social Affairs Mohammed Trabelsi met, on Monday in Tunis, with President of the Lebanese Economic and Social Council (CES) Charles Arbid to discuss the creation of a Pan-Arab Union of Economic and Social Councils.
Mohamed Trabelsi, in his capacity as President of the National Council of Social Dialogue, presented the experience of the Economic and Social Council in Tunisia, reviewing the stages of the establishment of the National Council of Social Dialogue, its composition, missions and future programmes.
Trabelsi also highlighted the main reform projects in his department, including the programme to assist disadvantaged and low-income families, the programme to support people with special needs, the programme to support children without family support, and the Labes' cards for social affiliates and Amen' cards for poor and low-income families.
For his part, Arbid stressed the importance of creating a Pan-Arab Union bringing together the economic and social councils of Arab countries, adding that such a structure is likely to "foster the exchange of experiences and to take advantage of successful experiences in this field".
The President of the Lebanese Economic and Social Council is visiting Tunisia from June 16 to 19.
