Pamper yourself for party sparkle.
According to style and feeling-good guru, Gok Wan, the key is to prepare, prepare, prepare! Unfortunately, there are no Godmothers in real life, and we have to do all the donkeywork in order to reach that Cinderella, pre-midnight, state.
To avoid a pantomime of your own at Christmas, it might be prudent to start now. That way, you can (a) spread the cost of looking fabulous, and (b) build up slowly, until you emerge in a goddess-like crescendo.
If you are feeling jaded, then why not book yourself into a spa, and get a dose of TLC? A full body massage will leave you feeling brand spanking new. It will melt away stress, ease muscles, and boost your circulation, as well as helping to rid the body of grotty toxins.
Couple this with a facial to rid your skin of dulling dead cells, nourish its layers, and, in capable hands, feel amazing.
Watch any makeover programme, and you will notice just what a considered haircut, colour and style can do for any woman.
Haircuts take a couple of weeks to grow into the style, so don't leave it to the day before the first party to have it done. That said, having your hair styled especially for the night, always makes a party extra special.
Nails are also extremely important. Scruffy nails, chipped with polish, can destroy the impact of a show-stopping party outfit, so make sure yours are exemplary by having a manicure or, at least, by clipping, filing, buffing and polishing them yourself.
Toes require the same attention. Ensure your feet are as smooth as silk by removing any rough skin after a bath (use a special foot file). Next, slaver a rich foot cream on said peds, and retire to bed donning soft bedsocks. This will give your feet an intensive moisturising treatment whilst you are dreaming of making that dramatic entrance.
In order to get into real party mode, you will need to make sure you drink enough (water, that is!), to hydrate your skin, and that you get enough sleep (dark shadows and bags are the post-party season look, not pre-).
Finally, self-tan any pasty bits, apply your makeup, and prepare to knock them dead!
Pamper yourself with a relaxing spa session, including a facial to make your skin sparkle, in plenty of time for the Christmas party season Sit back and relax as the professionals work their magic this Christmas
