Pals raise reward to find killers.

GRIEVING friends of an Irish actor who was gunned down in an American street have raised thousands of dollars to bring his killers to justice.

Five months ago 27-year-old Dubliner Barry Cunnane was shot to death by Chicago gang members as he walked with a friend but police have drawn a blank in tracking down the men who murdered him.

Last week hundreds of Barry's friends and countrymen gathered in Chicago's Irish American Heritage Center for a six-hour benefit concert to raise reward money to help catch the callous killer.

So far they estimate they have $15,000 towards the manhunt.

The fundraiser featured Irish bagpipe music, a buffet, a raffle and a cash bar for an event that friends said "matched Cunnane's fun-loving, generous and eclectic personality".

Detectives believe Barry was the victim of a bizarre gang initiation as he walk home with a friend after attending a wedding.
