Palm Beach CVB: new convention center to open in November.
Luring visitors with legendary hospitality and offering world-class meeting facilities, services, amenities, and a brand new convention center, it's no wonder Palm Beach County is a preferred choice among business travelers and meeting planners.Scheduled to open in late 2003, the new $83 million Palm Beach County Convention Center is ideally situated on 19 acres in downtown West Palm Beach, one mile from 1-95 and three miles from the Palm Beach International Airport. The 350,000-square-foot convention center will boast two levels of meeting space, including a 100,000square-foot exhibit hall (divisible into two equally sized halls), a 25,000-square-foot ballroom, and 23 separate breakout/meeting rooms encompassing 23,000 square feet.
The Palm Beach County Convention Center will be one of the most technically advanced centers in the world, offering state-of-the-art, full-service audiovisual, videoconferencing, and broadcasting capabilities. The facility's fiber-optic and copper-cable infrastructure supports high bandwidth access and crystal-clear reception. The telephone connections accommodate projected technology upgrades and LAN connectivity as well as wireless e-mail, text messaging, and other communication tools.
"The convention center will provide the large-scale exhibition space, technology, and resources to make Palm Beach County a global leader in the meetings and conventions industry," says Warren "Mac" McLaughlin, president and CEO of the Palm Beach County Convention and Visitors Bureau. "It will be an urban center for the next generation of business executives and within arm's length of world-class culture, accommodations, and leisure activities."
The convention center is convenient to cultural and entertainment venues such as the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, the Norton Museum of Art, and CityPlace, a new 70-acre upscale dining, retail, and entertainment district. The county boasts 47 miles of coastline; an average temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit; and more than 16,000 guest rooms, including more than 3,000 in a variety of price levels and within three miles of the new convention center.
Palm Beach County offers the best of everything--from distinctive attractions and sophisticated cultural venues to top-notch festivals and edge-of-your-seat sporting activities.
