Palestinian minister holds talks on enhancing relations.

Muscat: Official talks session between the Sultanate and Palestine was held at the General Diwan of the Higher Education Ministry yesterday.

The Omani side was chaired at the session by Dr Rawiyah bint Saud Al Busaidiyah, the higher education minister, while the Palestinian side was led by Lamis Mustafa Al Alami, education and higher education minister.

Dr Rawiyah talked about governmental and private higher education in the Sultanate, foreign and domestic scholarships, as well as the ministry's role in supervising the higher education in

the Sultanate.

The talks focused on the possibility of student and academic exchange between the higher education institutions in the two countries and exchanging educational curricula. It also discussed exchange of professors for training in presented disciplines (information technology, engineering, design and business management) at applied sciences colleges, in addition to discussing the implementation of research programmes and joint scientific forums.

Official talks

Dr Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibaniya, the education minister, also held discussions with the visiting Palestinian minister and her accompanying delegation, currently visiting the Sultanate.

The two sides reviewed ways of cooperation in educational fields and means of strengthening and developing them.

They also discussed a number of educational issues, including the system of marking the examinations of the general education diploma certificate and its equivalent examinations.
